Taiwan Korean Cosmetics Imports: A Decade of Data

Bottom line: measured through Korea’s export data, Taiwan’s imports of Korean cosmetics reached USD 266 million on HS 3304 in 2025, 2.49 times the 2015 level, after four straight years of growth since 2022; Taiwan ranks seventh among Korea’s cosmetics export markets.
Taiwan does not report trade data to UN Comtrade, and for this article we could not obtain a verifiable query result from the Taiwan Customs Administration’s statistics database.
So Taiwan Korean cosmetics imports are shown here as mirror data, Korea’s reported exports to Taiwan, cross-checked against Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) statistics that name Taiwan explicitly. These values can differ from imports recorded by Taiwan’s customs.

Definitions, sources and access date
- HS 3304 column: UN Comtrade, reporter Korea (code 410), exports, HS 3304, partner code 490 “Other Asia, nes”, annual FOB value in US dollars. UN Comtrade has no separate partner code for Taiwan, so this article treats code 490 as Taiwan. As a cross-check, code 490 ranks seventh in 2023, 2024 and 2025, the same rank MFDS gives Taiwan by name.
- Shares, changes and ranks are calculated from the same dataset (Korea’s HS 3304 exports to all partners).
- MFDS figures in the rank column: MFDS table “Korea’s cosmetics exports by country” (USD thousand; underlying data from Korea Customs Service and KITA). It covers all cosmetic types and so is larger than HS 3304. The 2023 figure comes from the release on 2024 results published in May 2025.

How to read the numbers
Faster growth in the last four years. From 2015 to 2021, Korea’s HS 3304 exports to Taiwan hovered between USD 100 million and USD 126 million. They have grown every year since 2022, by 31.5% in 2024 and 21.5% in 2025. On the MFDS measure, exports rose from USD 222 million in 2023 to USD 346 million in 2025, up 56.1% in two years.
A steady seventh place. Taiwan has ranked seventh among Korea’s HS 3304 export markets since 2019. Its share rose from 1.64% in 2021 to 2.82% in 2025, still below the 4.37% of 2015 because exports to markets such as the US grew even faster over the period.
Growing trade does not mean simpler rules. These are trade values; they say nothing about the requirements for placing products on the market in Taiwan. Check local registration and labelling requirements separately before shipping.
For Korean brands and for buyers in Taiwan, the trend points to a market that is taking more Korean cosmetics each year. It does not show sales by brand or product, so pair it with local sell-through data when choosing a range.
